Crafting Nautical Heritage

The island of Föhr has a deep connection to its maritime history, shaped by legendary navigators, whalers and captains. The brand development picks up on this heritage and combines tradition with craftsmanship. The focus is on the goal of not only preserving the stories of the most famous commanders, their ships and trade routes, but also bringing them to life – in the corporate design, packaging and in every facet of the visual identity.

The four most famous captains and their ships become the namesakes of selected spirits and lend the brand its unique identity. Each spirit tells the story of a commander and his voyages, keeping the rich seafaring tradition of Föhr alive. Inspired by the world-famous Delft tiles that captains have brought back from their voyages since the 17th century, a connection is created between historical heritage and exquisite enjoyment.

The design follows a two-tone concept in the style of Delft tiles, with the strong indigo vividly highlighting the detailed illustrations. These tell the story of each commander and his voyages, while nautical symbolism harmoniously completes the packaging design. The direct ceramic print subtly translates the tactile feel of the tile and adds depth to each bottle. The result is a design that brings both the history and the value of the brand to life.
